While I re-painted stairs this weekend, PRH added a second and third coat of spackle on the mudroom walls. Remember what this room looked like before? I wish you could've smelled it. PUKE! There are a couple tricky things about the mudroom; the first is that we're planning to tear it down and build a small, two-story addition within the next few years. It feels weird to work so hard to finish a room that we know we're eventually going to take apart. The other thing, to be perfectly frank, is that working on a room that we use daily is a real pain in the ass. We end up spending a lot of time shuffling around coats, shoes, furniture, and other junk just to get started on a project. I regularly wish that we were independently wealthy and could afford to live somewhere else while we had someone else renovate this old farmhouse. What makes us feel better is that, even if we were independently wealthy, we'd still want to live here (once the renovations were completed, of course). Back to the mudroom: we still have to fix the light fixtures, paint the walls, put trim around the windows, and re-paint the floors. Three more weekends? OK, maybe four.
